Aesthetic Medicine Decoded

Artificial Intelligence, Ethical and Sustainable Beauty

The 47th Congress of the Italian Society of Aesthetic Medicine presents this year an ambitious and highly relevant title: Aesthetic Medicine Decoded — Artificial Intelligence, Ethical and Sustainable Beauty. In today’s often oversimplified landscape of aesthetic medicine, there is a pressing need for a new interpretive approach. We have chosen to “decode” aesthetic medicine with the aim of deeply analyzing and unpacking the true components that define it today — to understand its clinical, ethical, and psychological dimensions, and to restore it to its essence as a medical discipline grounded in diagnosis, therapeutic indication, and a holistic view of the individual.

At this congress, we will explore the role of emerging technologies, such as the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the processes of diagnosis, treatment planning, and therapy evaluation. AI must be regarded as a support tool for medical knowledge, requiring strict ethical guidance to preserve the integrity of the doctor–patient relationship, respect for individual subjectivity, and the centrality of the person.

We will discuss ethical beauty, emphasizing the shift from a transformative aesthetic medicine to a more conscious aesthetic medicine, where interventions aim to restore individual identity in harmony with the patient’s age, history, and characteristics. In this vision, beauty becomes a tool for health, not conformity — a concept that cannot exist without medical evaluation, professional responsibility, and a trust-based, consistent relationship with the patient.

Finally, we will address the topic of sustainability, understood both in environmental terms—with a focus on the responsible use of resources and materials—and in professional terms, by promoting an aesthetic medicine grounded in proper training, therapeutic safety, prevention, and clinical appropriateness.

For over fifty years, SIME has been committed to building a body of medical and scientific knowledge that emphasizes prevention, continuing education, and interdisciplinary dialogue. This congress aims to serve as a space for open exchange, bringing together clinicians, researchers, and experts in bioethics, emerging technologies, psychology, and communication.

Today’s Aesthetic Medicine is oriented toward a technologically advanced future that remains deeply human, scientifically rigorous, and ethically grounded.

Thank you to all those who will contribute their knowledge, time, and passion to the success of this event.

We look forward to welcoming you in Rome to continue writing the future of Aesthetic Medicine together.
