Now in its 48th scientific edition, the Congress of the Italian Society of Aesthetic Medicine (SIME) stands among the most authoritative and long-standing events in international aesthetic medicine.
Its history began in the 1970s, when aesthetic medicine was still a pioneering discipline. From the very beginning, SIME recognized the importance of a medical approach focused not only on treating disease, but also on preventing aging and improving quality of life.

Since then, the Congress has accompanied-and often anticipated-the evolution of the specialty, helping to define its scientific, clinical, and ethical foundations.
One of the most significant milestones in its history took place in 1982, when the first Consensus Conference on cellulite was held during a SIME Congress. On that occasion, the foundations of the modern etiopathogenic interpretation of cellulite were established – principles that remain widely accepted by the international scientific community today.

For nearly five decades, the SIME Congress has served as a forum for research, education, and scientific exchange, where innovations have been presented, complications openly discussed, procedures validated, and clinical experiences shared by experts from around the world.
